Educational Advice for the President

When looking at the education system in this country I have many unanswered questions. I hope with a new president that many of my questions and concerns will be answered. As a future teacher I look closely to how this will affect my future and the future of my students. I know that some things are difficult for teachers. One being how education is tested; how student’s tests scores affects teacher’s jobs. When teaching you must follow strict standard and all those standard need to be met. I feel when teachers are being looked at on how their students perform that the quality of teaching decreases. What ever happened to teachers just teaching? I feel students are under pressure by the education system to succeed and when they fail it is placed on the teachers. I think when Obama is in office he should do something about education testing. I feel teachers should not be scored on how their students test because student’s levels are not adequate. Students with special needs should be taken into consideration. One thing I think Obama should all so look at is the schools with the low tests scores. These schools should be looked at closely to find out what the problem is and if these problems can be fixed. I feel every child should have the right education to be succesful no matter their learning level. Looking at the NCLB act I think Obama has to make some changes. I was looking at this act and how it requires 100 percent of all schools by 2014. I think this goal is outrageous. Obama needs to look at this act deeper and see how this percentage will be affected by special education students and how they fit into place. I think the goal of 100 percent is great but just as a goal. I think the president should start out at a reasonable percent so over time and with changes the goal could maybe be met. I think Obama has a lot of work fixing the education system so it mets the need of all levels of students but it is not impossible.
